Abundance Bubbles Over
More good days than bad. And today was VERY good.
I treated myself to the 14 day Abundance course by the fabulous Jessica Colp, a wonderful life coach who has helped me out of my natural doldrums more than once. I am more Eeyore than Winnie the Pooh, for sure.
Here’s her write up on the course. And if you want course information on future and past classes, here you go.
Are you vibing abundance or scarcity?
We’re entering a season of holidays and year-end wrap up and things may be getting busy for you! The days are darker, the temperatures are cooler, and I wonder how you’re feeling in mind and spirit.
Several of my clients last week were commenting to me about how challenging this year has been, and how hard some things have felt. Has that been your experience too?
If you’re feeling tired, worn down and maybe depleted, I get that. It’s rather normal for this season, which is why every year around this time I offer my favorite class on my favorite subject — abundance.
Life is often hard and full of challenges. It’s easy to feel lack and scarcity, cynicism and limitation. I can’t argue with that.
But Life is also full of possibilities, gifts and blessings. Those aspects of Life are always there too.
This is an Abundant Universe. There is more than enough for you and everyone else too.
When I presume that, turn up my level of appreciation, and soften into more receptivity, I experience abundance is all kinds of ways. My needs are met I have more than enough. Life is good to me.
This time of year, especially, I feel a strong pull to sink in and live from that principle with intention and joy.
Care to join me?
From Scarcity to Abundance, a reset class begins Thursday November 30.
Well, that’s just what I need right now. I’ve been listening to the daily recordings every night while I soak in my anxiety-calming hot bath with magnesium salts. We also had our first Zoom call today; eight out of the sixteen of us on a call for an hour talking about noticing abundance and putting our attention on the good instead of the bad. And I had a doozy of a great day to share.
Well - it started off not so good for my husband. He cracked a tooth. Emergency visit to the dentist, temporary crown with the permanent one to come in two weeks. Ouch. Physically and monetarily. But I didn’t let that worry me, I had things to go, people to see, craft supplies to buy. Have fun at the dentist, dear, see you in a few hours!
My first stop, after consulting with my crafty next door neighbor (and she is crafty in all permuations of the word) was Michaels. I needed some wool yarn for an old needlepoint I’ve been carrying around for, oh, the last 20 years or so. It’s almost done, and I kept packing it every time we moved. I found it again - as I do every few years when I clean out my closet and needlepoint bags - and decided I had to finish it.
Michaels had every color of acrylic and cotton yarn made for crocheting and knitting. No woolen yarn for needlepoint. Zip, nada, zilch.
Do you remember real yarn stores, before the Wal-Mart type of craft places? You’d go in, and a lady would be sitting behind the counter stitching her heart out. Invariably, this avid stitcher would be the proprietor and expert of the shop. Books on needlepoint, cross stitch patterns and magazines, quilting fabric, knitting and crochet needles, and a box frame of shelves on the wall with all types of beautiful woolen yarn for needlepoint, along with hand painted canvasses on little hangers. She’d sell me a pattern, we’d discuss colors and background, then she’d calculate how much yarn I needed, count it out and tie the skein into a knot.
Well, I completed the little chef, and over 9/10ths of the background, then I ran out of yarn. Miscalculating hand dyed yarn is the WORST. I’m willing to accept a close match - I’ll keep this one for myself, he reminds me of Alfred Neumann from Mad Magazine, shades of my childhood - so I don’t care if he isn’t perfect. I just want him DONE. So close. SO close. It’s an abundant world, I’m sure I will find the right yarn. If not, I’m sure I can pull the pillow or frame edge in a bit - Alfred will just be a little narrow.

ANYWAY - while I was in Michaels waiting in line to buy my items (sure, the store didn’t have woolen yarn, but they DID have half price Christmas wrapping paper, Christmas cards, Christmas tags, etc., etc.) I lined up across from the chocolate and candy counter. These store planners are geniuses. I can withstand quick flashes of temptation, but put me in a slow moving line with temptation at eye level - well, let’s just say that I had an abundant need for some chocolate.
My little eye spied a gourmet chocolate block. Well, that’s a worthy temptation - Carrot Cake by Chuao Chocolatier, priced at $6.75 a bar. Hmmm. No trans fat, cane sugar, non GMO - healthy, then! (I am an advertiser’s dream.) I put it in my basket and commiserated with the lady in front of me, who’d just spotted the rolls of Butter Rum Lifesavers. We agreed she had to get them to remember Christmas with her grandmother. She’d need at least three rolls to do her justice.
Finally it was my turn at the register. I chatted with the nice checkout lady. Poor thing had to ring up my purchases while answering the phone and using the mike attached to her smock to relay phone requests for info to the manager in the back. Hoo boy, she was having a time of it. I smiled and waited for her to finish.
She quirked her eyebrow at my last purchase. “Wow, carrot cake chocolate. I’ve never heard of such a thing. Is it good?” I said, “No idea. I HOPE so, because it’s a lot more than I normally pay." She nodded and scanned, then looked up. “Hey, Hon, this is scanning as .67 cents. Do you want to go get some more?” She winked at me.
DO I?!? Excuse me while I almost break an ankle rounding my way back to the box on the aisle. I grabbed all of them. Ten candy bars later, I am leaving the store with gifts for all my neighbors at a 90% discount. You will remember my eternal gift giving problem from ‘The Countdown to Hectic Holidays Begins.’ Problem solved. I just need to throw in a few cubes of homemade peanut butter fudge and we’re done. Thank you, Abundant Universe!
Then on to Barnes and Nobles for a pleasant hour of book browsing before returning home for my Zoom call and the perfect abundance story. Being the smart (greedy) person that I am, I then circled back around to Michaels to try to grab the Chuao dark chocolate and honeycomb bars for the same price. The universe blocked me from getting more than my fair share - the self scan showed them priced at $6.75. Too rich for me. ;)
Oh, and my husband is fine - a bit sore, but we’re having delicious leftover beef and sauerkraut soup. I made an ABUNDANT amount yesterday - how fortunate, right? I wonder what will happen tomorrow? I can’t wait to find out!
And if you’d like to end my almost perfect day on a high note - reply in the comments if you have a stash of old ecru colored wool yarn. I live in hope.
